In the “Energy Goal 2050” study by the Federal Environment Agency on the feasibility of a power supply entirely from renewable energies, a significant potential for geothermal power generation was identified.

The further-developed scenarios of the RESCUE study emphasize the importance of geothermal energy as a key source for future greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply.

Through the use of innovative technologies and continuous research, geothermal energy is becoming a central pillar of the energy transition, which is not only climate-friendly but also base-load capable.

Unlike solar and wind energy, geothermal energy offers a base-load capable, reliable, and nearly inexhaustible energy source.

Efficient at low temperatures

Our GEOCAL® ORC geothermal power plants use ORC technology (Organic Rankine Cycle) to efficiently generate energy even at very low temperatures below 100°C.

This technology allows the use of organic working fluids that boil at lower temperatures and pressures than water, thereby driving ORC turbo generators.

In addition, operators benefit from an attractive feed-in tariff under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), making the use of geothermal energy particularly economically appealing.

The process flow follows the classic steam cycle, but with organic media that are non-toxic, non-flammable, and climate-neutral. This enables the economical use of geothermal sources with low temperatures.

Our ORC power plants are characterized by excellent partial-load behavior and are highly efficient thanks to fully automated operation with minimal personnel requirements.
