Companies and municipalities must meet the requirements of the Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency Act by 2030. While solar and wind power are limited in Germany due to weather conditions, base-load capable, weather-independent geothermal energy plays a crucial role.
It provides CO₂-neutral heat and electricity around the clock and offers a stable, sustainable energy source that is independent of imports – an essential building block for the energy transition and achieving climate goals.
Geothermal energy refers to the heat energy stored in the Earth’s crust and its engineering utilization. It can be used in various ways – for heating, cooling, and electricity generation…
In the “Energy Goal 2050” study by the Federal Environment Agency on the feasibility of a power supply entirely from renewable energies, a significant potential for geothermal power generation was identified.
The further-developed scenarios of the RESCUE study emphasize the importance of geothermal energy as a key source for future greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply.
Through the use of innovative technologies and continuous research, geothermal energy is becoming a central pillar of the energy transition, which is not only climate-friendly but also base-load capable.
Unlike solar and wind energy, geothermal energy offers a base-load capable, reliable, and nearly inexhaustible energy source.
It enables a constant supply of electricity and heat, regardless of weather conditions or time of day.
By utilizing the heat stored in the Earth, the energy supply can be made not only climate-neutral but also stable and cost-effective in the long term.
In combination with innovative technologies such as electrolysis for the production of green hydrogen, geothermal energy becomes a central pillar of the energy transition.
It offers the necessary flexibility and efficiency to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy while simultaneously achieving CO₂ goals.
This enables a secure, independent, and future-proof energy supply for companies, municipalities, and households.
Our innovation power is based on the development of future-proof technologies that combine sustainable energy supply with maximum efficiency.
With advanced solutions, we set new standards in the use of geothermal energy and shape a CO₂-neutral future.
Our GEOCAL® ORC geothermal power plants use ORC technology (Organic Rankine Cycle) to efficiently generate energy even at very low temperatures below 100°C.
This technology allows the use of organic working fluids that boil at lower temperatures and pressures than water, thereby driving ORC turbo generators.
In addition, operators benefit from an attractive feed-in tariff under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), making the use of geothermal energy particularly economically appealing.
The process flow follows the classic steam cycle, but with organic media that are non-toxic, non-flammable, and climate-neutral. This enables the economical use of geothermal sources with low temperatures.
Our ORC power plants are characterized by excellent partial-load behavior and are highly efficient thanks to fully automated operation with minimal personnel requirements.
